SuttonSoft Roots
The founder of SuttonSoft, Sutton Yamanashi, is a Charlotte native and graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Though his bachelor's degree is in Environmental Science and Protection, his thesis research and core curriculum tract involved extensive study in mathematics and computer science - namely Differential Equations and C++, which enabled him to develop a computer application that predicted the global warming effect of various green house gas contributors.
After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, Mr. Yamanashi began post-graduate studies at North Carolina State University in Chemical Engineering while researching profitable actions of hazardous waste recycling.
With three semesters of post graduate study under his belt Mr. Yamanashi was recruited by a Boston-based Environmental Engineering firm for a position in his home town of Charlotte, NC. With a very short timeline to master a new set of skills needed by this company, Sutton was formally trained as a GIS and database engineer. Meanwhile, as a side interest he began to transfer his uniquely well-rounded skill set towards a new found passion of web site design and development. Within a year of teaching himself advanced internet technologies he found employment in Crested Butte, CO with a position as a ColdFusion Developer and Search Engine strategist.
While working as a professional web developer, Mr. Yamanashi spent his spare time researching Best Practices of coding techniques and methodologies of project management, while soaking up the fruits of his co-workers' expertise in using modular and reusable object oriented code. A year later Sutton found an opportunity back in Charlotte as a Web Applications Developer at a small yet successful boutique web design and development firm. While there he introduced new coding techniques and project management methodologies which enabled his team to significantly improve the company's success using the Fusebox approach to Project Management and Software Architecture.
As he helped this company revolutionize their work flow, Mr. Yamanashi's responsibilities quickly grew to Lead Developer on many projects, some of which were high profile. After maturing as an employee Sutton moved on to follow through with his entrepreneurial mission of creating a network of graphic designers and application developers based on his vision of owner-operator businesses. With this approach in mind, in 2002 SuttonSoft was born and became incorporated in 2003.
In addition to his role as President and Chief e-Learning Architect of SuttonSoft, Inc., Sutton Yamanashi is the President of the Charlotte Macromedia User Group where he arranges and gives presentations regularly to the Charlotte technology community.
